# Renaming Sites

> How to change the domain name for a Cito site

## Using the Dashboard

To rename a site, click the context menu next to a site card and then "Settings". On the site settings page you will see the domain name specified, and can edit the field to change it.

Click 'Save changes' to apply the rename.

  **Renaming does not modify databases**

  Renaming a site **only** changes the domain name. It will not modify any files or MySQL databases. If your site has internal references to the old domain name, you will need to change these to reflect the new domain.

Renaming a domain will not change the username or SSH credentials, nor update any references
